“A friend is one to whom one may pour out the contents of one's heart, chaff and grain together, knowing that gentle hands will take and sift it, keep what is worth keeping, and with a breath of kindness, blow the rest away.” ~ George Eliot

Looking To Find Love? Check Out Our Complete Compass Gifts...So They'll Always Find Their Way Back To You!
About 10 years ago we started selling compasses. At first we had these amazing heart token compasses (and we still sell them to this day!) and then we branched out to other compass styles and display pieces. There is no doubt that compass gifts are still very popular. They are perfect for a military gift, nautical gift, pilot gift, corporate gift, executive gift or for romance too! YUP! People who are in long distance relationships or apart from each other send these beautiful compass gifts to their significant other. And here is the great part of this special gift, they can be customized at no additional charge. We can laser engrave the brass plate on our personalized pieces for you. It is that "added touch" that really makes these compass gifts extra special
You can check out our complete line of compasses and globes by going to our website www.onepassionplace.com. Large corporate orders are also welcome!

Ok, so I have been trying to learn German for awhile now. I purchased some CD's from, lets just say, "Another Vendor" and never got anywhere. So one night Mike and I were binge watching TED Talks on Netflix and came across one by Luis von Ahn. You might also know him as the inventor of Captcha. You know those annoying (by his own admission) letter and number sequences you sometimes have to enter so that you can proceed further into a website or platform. It helps distinguish you from a program that is just trying to spam that particular site. In any event. on his TED Talks show he spoke also about Duolingo. Duolingo allows the user to learn a foreign language for FREE. Yes, FREE. In turn they hope that you will, after you have advanced enough, translate foreign books, articles and papers for their clients. You don't HAVE TO but it would be nice if you "pay it FOrward" and do some translating for Duolingo which is where they make their money. They do not allow advertising on their platform which makes it a joy to work on. After 1 year of faithful studying I have advanced to level 14 and am translating. It is really fun.
The other good thing about Dulingo is that the lessons you learn force you to not only annunciate the language correctly but you also learn to spell the words as well. They just received some additional funding too. You can read all about it on techcrunch by clicking here. Duolingo can be viewed by going to duolingo.com. We can be reached at www.onepassionplace.com. On twitter we are @heartsfolly and we are on Facebook too!

Historian Doris Kearns Goodwin talks about what we can learn from American presidents, including Abraham Lincoln and Lyndon Johnson. Then she shares a moving memory of her own father, and of their shared love of baseball.
Doris Kearns Goodwin writes insightful books on the US Presidency (JFK, LBJ, FDR and Lincoln, so far), telling each president's personal story against the backdrop of history.

While looking for my 25th wedding anniversary band online I came across the site brilliantearth.com. Of course I fell in love with plenty of their anniversary bands but more importantly I came to better understand their mission and just had to tell my clients about this incredible company. So if you are looking for an engagement ring, anniversary bands, I Love You gifts or precious stones or metals and would like to order from a company who truly cares where their product is mined from and where they source their goods, you must take a look at Brilliant Earth. I think they tell their story best, so:
Brilliant Earth was co-founded by Beth Gerstein and Eric Grossberg, who met at Stanford University. When Beth was about to be engaged, she experienced firsthand, with her fiancé Alex, the challenge of finding a conflict free engagement ring that represented her values. Eric, through his research at Stanford, became impassioned with the idea that responsibly-sourced jewelry could be an effective tool for social change in developing countries. Together, Beth and Eric founded Brilliant Earth in 2005. What began as a partnership between two entrepreneurs has grown into a community of people with a passion for fine jewelry and a commitment to change. The Brilliant Earth team is a group of dedicated individuals – jewelry designers, sales associates, gemologists, and more – all working to provide exceptional jewelry that our customers can feel good about wearing. Our customers, too, are part of our community. It is with our customers' help that we are cultivating a more humane jewelry industry, one stunning piece of jewelry at a time
About Ethical Sourcing:
At Brilliant Earth, we are dedicated to socially and environmentally responsible sourcing. Our carefully selected suppliers adhere to strict labor and environmental standards and can demonstrate a complete chain of custody for their gemstones. To reduce the demand for additional dirty gold mining, we only use recycled gold and platinum. These precious metals come from secondary sources and are re-refined to ensure that they are identical in quality to newly mined metals.
From beautiful packaging to our exclusive jewelry designs, everything at Brilliant Earth is held to the highest standards. All of our jewelry is handcrafted in America and carefully inspected by our jewelry experts. At Brilliant Earth, there is no compromise between quality and conscience.
So now I will continue for the perfect anniversary band, just had to take a moment to share this with all of you.

It's Valentines Day and besides sending my love to my amazing daughter Kristen, My SuperHero Husband Mike and all of my friends, clients and family I have to share the love with my secret crush "Dr. Caldwell B. Esselstyn, Jr." My husband knows all about my love for the "Good Doctor" and he is ok with it since his documentary along with Dr T Colin Campbell saved me from a life of cardiovascular disease and diabetes. You simply MUST watch their movie "Forks Over Knives." That movie and Dr Joel Fuhrmans PBS special and book "Super Immunity" , turned me on to becoming Vegan several years ago> Although I must say I was very close to turning, at the very least, vegeterian before becoming immersed with their books and movies. (I don't like the thought of eating another living thing) but both of their thoughts on a plant based diet is amazing and surprisingly not hard to follow. I am sharing this story because Valentines Day is all about showing "the Love" If becoming Vegeterian or Vegan isnt for you that is ok too. Do consider eating more fruits and vegetables. You can also read Dr Esselstyn new book "Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease". You can find it at your local book seller or on amazon or bn.com
Feel the love this Valentines Day---eat your vegetables! (and a little choicolate if you must!).
“Love the animals, love the plants, love everything. If you love everything, you will perceive the divine mystery in things. Once you perceive it, you will begin to comprehend it better every day. And you will come at last to love the whole world with an all-embracing love.” ~Fyodor Dostoyevsky - posted by www.onepassionplace.com
